INTRODUCTION

Quality health care is everyone's concern. Maybe you place a high level of importance on the freedom to choose a particular physician, specialist, or hospital. Perhaps you want to keep your out-of-pocket costs to a minimum. Or, maybe you want just enough coverage to protect you in a catastrophe. To make sure you have access to health care, Vought Aircraft offers you a variety of medical plan options.

YOUR OPTIONS

You may select medical coverage within 31 days after the date you are hired, during the Annual Enrollment period, or within 31 days of a qualified change in status. Vought Aircraft offers you the following choices for health care coverage:

  • The Premium BCBS (Blue Cross Blue Shield) PPO
  • The Healthcare Essentials BCBS (Blue Cross Blue Shield) PPO
  • The Balanced Choice preferred provider organization (PPO) option (Note: Balanced Choice is default coverage if you do not make any coverage election)
  • Health maintenance organizations (HMOs), if offered in your ZIP code area
  • No coverage, if you opt out of the Vought Aircraft medical plan.

IS YOUR SPOUSE ALSO EMPLOYED?

In many instances, the spouse of a Vought Aircraft employee has the opportunity to enroll for group health care coverage through his or her employer. If your spouse's employer pays 50% or more of the cost of health care coverage, Vought Aircraft requires your spouse to enroll in that plan. This rule applies even if your spouse's employer offers only one option, such as a health maintenance organization.

You can still enroll your spouse as your dependent in the Vought Aircraft medical plan. With dual coverage, your spouse's health care plan pays benefl ts for his or her expenses first, and then Vought Aircraft pays benefits.

Your benefits are an important component of your total compensation and Vought Aircraft pays for a major portion of your health care coverage. At the same time, we are in a highly competitive world market and must manage all of our costs - including employee health care benefit costs - to meet our customers' pricing requirements. The "working spouse rule" helps Vought Aircraft manage health care costs by sharing your family's benefit costs with your spouse's employer. This cost-sharing helps us continue to offer you access to high-quality health care.

COVERAGE CATEGORIES

You can select one of these coverage categories:

  • Employee only
  • Employee + child(ren)
  • Employee + spouse
  • Employee + family (employee, child[ren], and spouse)
  • No coverage.

If you select both medical and dental coverage, you may choose a different coverage category for medical than you choose for dental. For example, you can enroll only yourself in a medical plan option and enroll yourself and your entire family under a dental plan option. In short, you select the combination of coverage that fits your and your family's needs.

CHANGING YOUR COVERAGE

Generally, the medical plan option (Healthcare Essentials, PPO, Premium PPO, Balanced Choice PPO, or HMO) and coverage category that you select for yourself and your family stay the same for the full benefit plan year. The Annual Enrollment period is the only time you can change your medical plan option and coverage category - unless you move to an area where your medical plan option is not offered, or you experience a qualified change in status.

You have 31 days after a qualified change in status to make a selection, as long as the changes in coverage are consistent with the event. The sooner you make your selection, the sooner you can receive reimbursement for your claims under your new selection.
