What Happens When You Become Eligible for Medicare
When you reach age 65 and continue to be an active employee
of the company, Managed Choice POS will continue to be your
primary coverage and Medicare will be secondary. If you have
an enrolled dependent who is eligible for Medicare, Managed
Choice POS is the primary plan unless the dependent waives
Managed Choice POS coverage.
In cases where Managed Choice POS is your primary coverage,
you or your enrolled dependents will be entitled to the same
benefits under Managed Choice POS as those persons who do
not have Medicare.
If you are eligible for Medicare when you retire, Medicare
is your primary coverage. Any company plan for which you are
eligible will always be secondary payer after you retire.
It is, therefore, very important that you enroll for Medicare
when you first become eligible. Even if you don't enroll for
Medicare or don't comply with Medicare's requirements, Managed
Choice POS will not consider expenses that would be payable
under Medicare.
To enroll for Medicare coverage, contact the Social Security
Administration office that serves your area before you reach
age 65.
If you have a disabled dependent who is drawing Social Security
disability income, that dependent is normally eligible for
Medicare after two years. Contact the Social Security Administration
for additional information.
If you or a covered dependent has been diagnosed with End
Stage Renal Disease (E.S.R.D.) and becomes eligible for Medicare,
please notify the Vought Benefits Center.
